Understanding the Process

What Is an Occupational Therapy Assessment?

Occupational therapy assessments focus on understanding how individuals function in daily environments, including home, school, work, and community settings.

Using a Person–Environment–Occupation framework, these assessments explore sensory processing, executive functioning, environmental influences, and practical strategies to support meaningful daily participation.

An occupational therapy assessment may be helpful if you:

Experience sensory overwhelm or sensory-seeking behaviours

Need documentation to support school or workplace accommodations
