Assessment Services for Adults and Older Adults
At Autism Wellness, we take a neurodiversity-affirming approach to assessments, recognizing autism and ADHD as valuable brain differences that enrich our communities.
Our unique expertise is in understanding psychological conditions within autistic individuals — including how challenges like anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, or ADHD may present differently due to masking, misdiagnosis, or cultural and gender factors. We also recognize that many autistic people are also ADHD (research suggests a significant overlap), which is why we provide ADHD assessments for both autistic and non-autistic clients.
All adult and older adult assessments are currently offered virtually through an encrypted and secure platform licensed for medical use. Virtual assessments provide comfort, flexibility, and accessibility across Ontario, Alberta, and Quebec.
We offer four assessment formats to meet different needs

Adults and older adults who are autistic and/or ADHD, and want clarity about co-occurring mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma, mood, eating disorders, personality disorders, or substance use. This option is ideal for those who already have an autism/ADHD diagnosis but need a fuller picture of their psychological profile. We offer reduced fees for people with financial need and without private insurance.
One-Day Assessment Option
For some individuals, completing the assessment process in a single day can feel more comfortable, practical, or even essential. While many clients prefer to spread sessions out over time, others find that moving through the process in one day provides relief from waiting, reduces stress, and allows them to access recommendations more quickly.
Because a one-day format requires dedicated scheduling and focused clinician time, this service is offered at a higher fee. The assessment includes all the same components and level of care as our standard process — it is simply structured differently to provide clarity and feedback in a faster timeframe
💡 Why us? Our team works every day with autism, ADHD, and complex mental health conditions. That experience gives us the confidence to offer a one-day format while still ensuring the process feels thoughtful, supportive, and clear.
-
Before the assessment: You submit all past records (such as school report cards or previous assessments) and complete your questionnaires ahead of time. This gives your clinician the chance to carefully review everything in advance.
Morning and Early Afternoon: You meet virtually with your clinician for a series of clinical interviews, usually broken up with breaks to reduce fatigue.
Same day: If a family member or close friend is providing input, their interview also happens on that day.
Late Afternoon: You meet again for your feedback session, where we share the results, recommendations, and next steps.
Within a few days: You receive your full written report.
Afterwards: You still have a follow-up meeting with your clinician to go over the report, ask questions, or complete any forms you might need.

Accessibility and Options
We recognize that assessments are a significant investment. Payment plans are available to fit your circumstances.
We also offer a limited number of significantly reduced-fee assessments, which are completed by a psychological trainee under the supervision of a registered psychologist. This allows us to provide high-quality services at a lower cost, while supporting the next generation of clinicians.
In addition, some publicly funded assessments are available through:
Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital
CAMH Adult Neurodevelopmental Services
Some family physicians may also provide ADHD assessments. If you are unsure which type of assessment is the best fit, we are happy to discuss options with you.
