Doctoral Candidate, School/Applied Child Psychology

Samantha Wong is a Doctoral Candidate in School/Applied Child Psychology at McGill University, where her research focuses on rhythm perception, motor coordination and phonological awareness among neurodivergent children.

She completed her doctoral residency at Surrey Place, where she received advanced training in assessment and intervention with autistic and other neurodivergent children, adults, and their families. She has also trained at community-based, pediatric, and school settings in Montreal with a focus on work with neurodivergent children.

Samantha has experience conducting psychodiagnostic and psychoeducational assessments with children, adolescents, and adults, including autism, ADHD, anxiety and mood concerns. She is also fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

At Autism Wellness, Samantha provides autism, ADHD, and other broader psychodiagnostic assessments under the supervision of Dr. Alex Porthukaran, Clinical Psychologist. With a warm, compassionate, and collaborative approach, Samantha sees each assessment as a process to understand a client's strengths, their unique way of processing the world, and what has been difficult in their life so far. This process leads to tailored recommendations based on her clients' values and goals.
